What is forgiveness?
To me, forgiveness is letting go of a memory, a feeling, an experience - perhaps a wrong that someone has done to you, in order to heal yourself and move forward in life. Remember forgiveness is not for the other person, it is for you.
Forgiveness gives you a sense of inner peace and freedom. Forgiving someone does not mean that you condone the actions of another, it means that you simply let go of that situation and choose to no longer be a victim to that situation.
It is easier said than done. Sometimes the ego gets in the way, as a means to protect you from letting something repeat itself, the ego holds you in place - by grasping onto a memory of something bad that happened to you in the past. Although it is trying to protect you, the ego is holding you prisoner to the past.
